With the arrival of the Ottomans to the territories of today’s Bosnia and Herzegovina new pigeon breeds were introduced. So it is not a coincidence that pigeon keeping in Bosnia and Herzegovina has always been popular.

Pigeons in Bosnia and Herzegovina were never kept by the wealthy; they were always ornaments of village, and especially suburban house roofs. Pigeon keeping was spread as an eastern tradition, which values the pigeon’s looks and its flight. For that reason our pigeon breeds are mostly rollers that also look good.
